David,
It is with heavy heart and watery eyes that I send you this email…
9 years ago my family visited your kennel in Colusa and fell in love with a puppy. The first time we saw her she barely fit in your palm, she was only days old. We remember our visits and picking her up to this day. Sadly, our Lady “Mocha” May succumbed to cancer earlier this month…just short of her ninth birthday.
First, thank you for the opportunity to have such a great dog!! She definitely was the best. We managed to get second choice of the females in the May 16, 1999 litter, just behind a breeder out of state. Honestly, I feel they left the pick of the litter behind.
For the first two years we had Mocha we lived in a track home that already had lawn front and back. We decided to buy a bigger place… We found a large lot in a country setting, yet still in the city. Just a lot… We put up the house and moved in. Mocha knew this was her new home but something bugged her…and it showed. Not sure how long it took, but for months I worked on the back yard. Brought dirt in, leveling, sprinklers, a lot of hard work. Finally, one day, the sod arrived. I had about 200 sqft down when Mocha came out the back door. She bolted down the steps and out onto the lawn, flung herself head first into it. Legs flailing in the air, she rubbed her back on it and moaned a groaned for about a minute. That made all the hard work worth it!!! And, that did it; Mocha was now really home…grass…finally grass…
Then there are those things she did from the start that never changed… When we first brought Mocha home every time we would get in the shower she would follow us in, we would lay out the towel for the floor matt and she would lay down and go to sleep. This became one of he signature things…all you would need to say is “let’s go get a shower” and she would follow you into the bath room and wait for the towel…
I could go on with stories…she was just one of the family… She is really missed.
It was great to find your web site and that you are still in the business. We are not quite ready for another dog, but it is awfully lonely around here… I wanted to at least contact you and let you know what happened and that we will want to commit sometime in the future. Finding her puppy picture in your archives tears. The description of her fit perfectly…”Go-Getter, a real pistol”.
Once again, thank you for the opportunity to have Mocha as part of our family for the past nine years.

Hi David-
Thought I'd send you a few recent pictures of Sydney (Truffles x Buddy, Puppy #4, Aug 07). She's almost 9 months and doing great! Not sure how much she weighs, I think around 60 lbs. She loves to play ball and chew on sticks. As you can see in the second picture, she will chew on any stick no matter what size it is. She happened to pull off a piece of edging around our grass. She gets daily visits to the park and let's us know if we are late in taking her. Her leash is in her mouth ready to go!
Hope you are doing well.
Andrea

David
Hi, well it has been 1 year since you delivered Abner to me, 27 April 2008. You knew him as Chip, as I remember. Just wanted to tell you what a nice dog he has grown to be. He is 15 1/2 months old now and weighs in somewhere in the mid to high 80 pound range.
Haven't weighed him in a month or two so don't know exactly. He is a very sweet loving dog. He is also all Lab, and you know very well what that entails! But that's why we love them. He has been through several obedience courses and excels in class, but doesn't always mind when the teachers not looking. I have enclosed a few pictures of my best friend so you can see what a handsome boy he turned out to be.

David, thanks again for my buddy Abner.
Best regards,
Jim
