Dear Dave,

A week ago today our baby girl "Gauge" had her 2 year birthday and we felt
it was time to let you know how wonderful she is. Gauge has superceded all
of Gary's expectations of a hunting dog. She learned everything so fast and
was retrieving ducks at 6 months old. We began training immediately after
reading all the books, watching videos and purchased the Tri-Tronics
training collar (rarely needed) and Gauge learned & retained everything so
easily (verbal commands, whistle, and hand signals), she's so very smart.
She has long legs and tail, a beautiful head, a shiny velvet soft coat,
great disposition, obedient, and did I say very Intelligent. She's
everything we wanted in a dog and more. Everyone loves Gauge. Her only
draw back is her desire to eat, she'd eat anything and everything put in
front of her so we must watch her daily diet closely. Gauge is a big girl
weighing approx. 85 - 90 lbs. She's not fat just a big beautiful dog with
lots of energy. Her favorite thing in life besides eating is swimming. She
gracefully climbs into my lap in the recliner chair while watching TV.
always wanting to be close. Gauge has been spayed so there will be no pups
from her therefore when people want their own Gauge we refer them to you.
People who are involved in field training have suggested that Gauge has the
potential, we'll see!! Well thanks for giving us the joy of our lives, I'll
try to remember to send you a picture of her. Sincerely, Gary Cooper &
Julie LaGrave

     Dave,

Lilly Star in 3 short days has become a part of the family. Hard to believe
that an 8 week old pup can rule the roost but she does. She does not like to
be penned, we gated her in the kitchen and went to dinner and came home to
the biggest mess-did not believe she could knock over 2 large garbage cans,
but she did. She steals Kali's bones whenever she can and when Kali is not
looking jumps her. Kali loves having a playmate even if she is the size-(for
now) of her hind leg. Thank you for a great family member. Looking forward to
breeding her in the future.

Hi David and Elliot!

Just a quick note to tell you how great and beautiful and sweet and
cherished Marley (JJ Stargator & Maggie's) is. We now live in Portland,
Oregon where Marley is learning to love the rain. She loves all the dog
parks and plays extremely well with all other dogs and pups. Of course, at
her young 5 mos she prefers other puppies and we have a few 5-6 mos olds
labs in the neighborhood. I can't tell you how often we hear how beautiful
and sweet she is. She now weighs about 40 lbs. Any idea how much Maggie
weighed at that age? We are still guessing how big she will get...we think
70lbs?? She's also got nice long legs--hopefully she will stay that way and
be a leaner, lankier lab rather than a stout one! Knock on wood, but Marley
doesn't seem to be much of a trouble maker yet. In fact, when I go to work,
she has full run of the kitchen, LR, and DR. Home alone for 5-6 hours and
doesn't pee, poo, or chew (anything she isn't supposed to). Marley is a
total bed dog-sleeps with us every night. That might change when she is
twice her size! Also, if you recall Marley had all those health issues with
coccidia and HOD, well, you would never know it--she is healthy as can be!
In fact, we named her Marley TrueWill on her AKC papers as she is so True
and Strong Willed.

I'll get Slate to email some photos.

Best,

Lisa May-Olson & Slate & Marley.

One of many pictures to come....Her and Cisco hit it off great! He's
become very attached and protective of her in the few days they've been
together. He bonded with her in such a way he even tried to fit in her
crate with her come bedtime. They'll play until they wear each other
out take a two hour nap, then play again. They've developed a routine.
Thank you so much for taking the time to drive such a long way to bring
us chocolate happiness.

Good Morning David,
Just want to let you know Java (aka Pistol) is doing well.
She's about 35 pounds now at 5 months and growing. Her nickname around
here is "Lil' Chocolate Piggy" because she snorts when she plays and
gets excited. It's so adorable! During our GSD's advance clicker
training, she'd eagerly jump in wanting to learn. She picked up on
commands and hand motions quickly and demanded to be trained, too! So
were beginning her training early with plenty of play. She's so smart,
quick to learn, and willing to do anything for treats! We love her to
no end! Thank you again for such sweet chocolate!

Regards,
Jennifer Craig

David - don't feel you have to respond to every e-mail.  I can't help
but write.  This dog is so smart its scary.  One week in our house and
she is already about 75% housebroken.  She goes on the paper (will go
in search of ANY paper if desperate) and sometimes whines at the front
door.   By the third night, we had her wandering around on her own
instead of confined to the kitchen with newspaper.  She was MUCH
quieter at night like that.  She's started sleeping with my son, which
of course, is cute.

We're taking her to the vet tomorrow - going back to the same one who
cared for our old dog.

Don't have a name yet - Dad suggested "Hershey" as a joke and I said
why not "Nestle" - the kids differ on "Coco" or "Rosie" - but none of
those really fit her.  It thought maybe "Fiona" or "Katie" but a
friend had a choc lab named Fiona and Katie is the name of my best
friend.  Doesn't sit well with me.

Yes, it is just breathtaking the refinement in this dog.  She is so
beautiful. Thank you!

Elaine

Hi, David,
Just wanted to let you know that Koko/Travis got off to Japan all right,
as far as I know.  I was able to sit with him in the sun out of his
crate until about 11:30, so that spared him a couple hours confinement.
I pilled him and off he went, and is as I write halfway to his new home.

It was fun to get to know him.  What a wonderful guy!  Al least 10
people stopped to admire him, and four of them claimed a history of
breeding labs.  You guys must be all over the place.  Eight of them
marvelled at the size of his feet!  He seemed more responsive to men
than to women, but I could have been imagining that.

Thank you again for all your help.  You really handled a lot of extra
paperwork for which I am quite grateful.

All the airline people I talked to assured me that he would be well
cared for-last on the plane, first off, warm and comfortable.  Maybe
I'll ship myself by cargo next March when I go see Travis.

I hope your new puppies are as handsome and sweet and this one.  I would
certainly recommend you to any puppy seekers.

Happy New Year to you.
Sarah

Hi David!

We named our new puppy Cody Ba Lou!  What excitment we have had!
Unfortunately, potty training is a bit of a challenge....kids are a bit
easier!  Aside from that, we wanted to thank you for obvious good upbringing
of your dogs.  He has a great personality, very loving and fun!  He and our
other dog, Bayley, get along very well.

Thank you for your assistance.  And thanks for a new member of our family!!

Sincerely,

Hi David

Thought you might want to see an updated picture of Harvey. He is doing
really well and growing by the day! We've taken him to the beach a few times
and he's getting more and more confident about the sea! He loves to run
about on grass and is a real natural at searching through the undergrowth!
He's definitely a people dog as he loves everyone. He's also great around
other animals but we're still being careful who he mixes with.

The vet was very impressed with him and said he was in perfect shape. He's
got another check up tomorrow as he's been on worming tablets recently.

We have his AKC registration certificate back already - his full name is
"Harvey Stargate Bay" Hope you like it!

Everyone asks where we got him from and think he is beautiful, so we always
recommend Stargate Kennels.

How are the othe pups from the litter doing? Have you heard?

All the best

Hi David,   I fully intended to send you a note long before now and tell you what a great little guy Grady is!!  He settled right in and made himself at home in our house and our hearts.  Needless to say, he has grown by leaps and bounds and is turning into a beautiful fellow.    Our coon hound adopted him and "mothered" him constantly, including cleaning his teeth and ears every night!  I don't think she's quite as thrilled now that he's bigger than she is and challenging her "rule", but they play well together and run the field every day. I take a peek at your website often to check out the pups and have recommended you to several people.  The care and love you give those little fellas (and the big ones too!) is self evident.   We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.  I'll try and get some pics on the digital camera over the holidays and send them along to you.   Warm regards, Sherry deWaard sdewaard@bellmicro.com

Hi David,
Just thought I'd send you a few pictures of my boy at 15 weeks. He is doing
great. We went to a NAHRA field test yesterday to watch some hunting dogs
compete and they ran a beginner test for young pups. Hunter was the youngest
there, but retrieved like a champ and outperformed one of the five month old
pups there. He retrieved several pigeons on land and even attempted to get
one in the water. This was his first time in the water, he splashed right in
but decided that he wasn't quite ready to swim yet, lol!
Anyways thanks for the great pup! I will attach a couple pictures of him
with some birds in my kitchen. I do have one question though, I noticed that
his eyelids are a bit droopy, not all the time but sometimes. Is this normal
at his age or should I have them checked out at the vet??

Thanks,
Deborah

David,

I haven't gotten the chance to respond to you lately, but wanted to thank
you for the medical cost reimbursement. Although sometimes challenging (as
is always true with any puppy), Sampson is a true joy, and undoubtedly the
best dog I have ever owned. He is loyal, beautiful, and smart as a whip.
Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes not! ;) As I work out of the
house, he often lays at (or on) my feet in my office, and is very good about
being obedient. Between my wife and I, one is almost always home, so he
gets lots of attention.

We did go away on vacation last month, and we left him at home with the
neighbor boys coming over several times a day to feed and play with him. He
did great, and didn't even destroy anything. Although he's chewed almost
all the sprinkler heads (I'm installing brass ones this weekend), he has
been great inside. He's not chewed any furniture, clothes, or even a shoe!
He sleeps in our bedroom at night, and has been great.

Originally, we crated him in our room at night. When he got too large, we
"stationed" him to the bedpost. Now, he just sleeps under the bed... all
65+ pounds of him (good thing we have a tall bed!)!

He is even great with our 7 month old son, Jared. We are careful to make
sure he gets lots of attention, though, so he doesn't feel left out or
jealous.

Thanks again for breeding such a wonderful dog. Although he has had a few
health issues, I would definitely recommend you to anyone interested in a
Chocolate Lab. I am proof positive that you stand behind your warranty, and
go the extra mile. Please feel free to use me as a reference.

I'll send you some photos when I get a chance!

Hi David,

She is doing great!!! She is an awesome dog. Our other lab is very quiet
and docile and Gunner ( Jesse's Shotgunner) is very vivacious so they
balance each other well.
She loves the water and is an excellent hunter. She is not afraid of
anything and just loves to be around us and our horses. Even with all of
her energy she has a great attention span and was very easy to train. We
will probably be ready for another lab in a few years. We have 20 acres and
would like to have one more. We just do not want them to be too close in
age. We highly recommend your dogs to everyone.

We will definitely keep in touch.

Dear David:

Just wanted to tell you that Ike, our Christmas puppy, is doing great! He
is just the most amazing little guy. He has the greatest disposition-always
happy, loving and friendly, very spunky, and likes to chase our cats. He
already fetches and knows his name, and has made good progress on the
housebreaking front. He has his own room with doggy bed and a dozen toys,
but he prefers to sleep at the foot of our bed at night. I am afraid that
we are spoiling him, but we just can't help it. Will send you pictures
soon. He's absolutely beautiful.

We took him to the vet, and they asked for his medical records. Could you
send an email back with exactly what shots he has had? I know he had his
first set of 7-week shots, but the vet seemed to want more detail.

Thank you so much for our wonderful puppy.

Hi David, I'm sorry I haven't sent any Emails about how our pup is Doing. He was Mail number four out of Gabbies litter last may. His name is "Skeet" but we ended up calling him "Skeeter" or "Piggy." The nickname "Piggy" is because he grunts like a little pig. In the last few months we can tell he is gabbies pup for sure. He is quite the little talker. He is taking quite well to his training and he loves to hunt. I've taken him a few duck and pheasant hunts. He is the best duck dog I've been around and he is only about 8 months old. He took to hunting better then obedience. He sits and comes but good care less about stay and lay down. I think this is because he likes his ears scratched more then a good belly rub. If I figure out our new scanner I will send some pictures. He has an amazing resemblance to Bud. He isn't quite as tall but he a  great looking little guy. His last vet visit about a month ago he was 80 lbs and the vet had nothing to say about him being fat at all. So thank you very much for our dog. I was also wondering how often you get older dogs that are returned? My dad  is looking for an older lab that needs a good home, but he doesn't have the energy for a puppy. He shares my love for labs as well. So, if you need a home for an older lab We would be grateful to get a Email at <mailto:Duckhunter210@hotmail.com>Duckhunter210@hotmail.com                         Grant Allen, Lisa Allen and Skeeter PS You have the best looking chocolates I've seen, and I think your breeding keeps the breed true to their love for everyone and pure intelligence.
